We're closing out this year's Hispanic Heritage Month with a spotlight from Lead Content Manager, Ralph Zubiate! He has graciously shared the following insights with us:

Give us some background on you, your heritage, as well as your role at Investis Digital

I’m a Lead Content Manager and this is my first stint in marketing. I previously spent many years in journalism. My heritage is Mexican and Basque, which is from Spain. I’ve been very interested in finding out more about the Basque part of my family.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?

It’s a recognition and celebration of the contributions of Hispanic people have made to American history and culture. I was lucky to have grown up in a Hispanic-majority city (El Paso, Texas), having been surrounded by my culture and heritage. I think that gives me a different perspective because I always felt supported and accepted for being myself-celebrating Hispanic Heritage month extends that feeling.

Who would you say has been the greatest influence in your career?

My Christian faith is my greatest influence because that has gotten me through difficulty and helped me trust outcomes. My last job was one of the most difficult times in my life, but the circumstances and things I learned led me to an opportunity at Investis Digital, which has been a wonderful outcome. I trusted that it would turn out well, and that trust gave me peace and strength.

What family tradition(s) do you have that you wish to pass down?

One of our favorites is Christmas. My family always opened gifts on Christmas Day, my wife’s family opened on Christmas Eve, and we blended this, opening gifts from family on Christmas Eve and gifts from “Santa” on Christmas Day. It’s something we continue to this day when our grown kids visit.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I read a lot, mostly history, biography, and other non-fiction. If all goes according to plan, I’ll finish reading more than 70 books this year!
