Starting in 1968 and then later expanded to a full 30-day celebration by President Ronald Reagan in 1988, Hispanic National Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration from September 15 to October 15 that celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.”
To honor this incredible month, Investis Digital would like to highlight some of our employees who are of Hispanic and Latino descent.
In today’s post we’re spotlighting some insights from Alfredo Santana, a Sales Intern at Investis Digital.
Alfredo graciously answered seven questions about his career, life, and heritage for us—here’s a little bit more about him in his own words:
As a 2021 high school graduate with Cuban roots, my family and I migrated from Cuba to the United States in 2009. We came to the United States with the hope of having a greater, more enhanced life. The journey was not easy, in fact, it was very difficult. My parents and I left a lot behind, but the transition was ultimately for the better. Here in the United States, you aren’t limited to what you can accomplish—there is untapped potential and unlimited opportunities as well as freedoms —which is essentially why we moved.
Now that you know a little more about my background, we can transfer over to what I’m looking forward to doing through the internship. Here at Investis Digital, I am interning as a business development representative and gaining valuable knowledge in sales and marketing. Investis has taught me how to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate as a team, which are invaluable skills. In this internship, I am looking to better myself and gain knowledge and experience in not only sales, but business as a whole. I am looking to start college in January 2022, with a well-developed skillset!
Hispanic heritage month is very important to me; it celebrates our contributions and myriad of cultures. Many Hispanic people, including myself, take these couple of weeks and celebrate the Hispanic bloodline that we all share. Whether you are from Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba or Nicaragua, it is an opportunity to come together and have a good time. It is a time of commemoration.
The greatest influence for me would be my parents. My parents have always pushed me to chase success. After all, they left everything behind in Cuba for me. The sacrifice has been for me to prosper in life. That is a lot of pressure, but it does not slow me down. Thanks to my parents, and now the opportunity Investis Digital has given me, I like to think I have a promising future.
A cool family tradition I wish to pass down would be to come together to the dinner table before eating and give thanks for the food every day. It’s quite nice to have the people you love at the dinner table ready to slam down some delicious food.
I love cars! I’ve always been a big fan of cars. I also like going to the gym and working out, it’s very important to me.
