Hispanic Heritage Month Employee Spotlight: Ralph Zubiate

|
In today’s Hispanic Heritage Month post, we’re spotlighting some insights from Ralph Zubiate, a Content Strategy Lead at Investis Digital.

According to Hispanic Heritage Month’s website, “each year, Americans observe National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, by celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.” To honor this incredible month, Investis Digital would like to highlight some of our employees who are of Hispanic and Latino descent.

In today’s post, we’re spotlighting some insights from Ralph Zubiate, a Content Strategy Lead at Investis Digital. Ralph shares, “I’ve been at ID for 15 months now (not that I’m counting) and I’m a lead content strategist. I provide content for clients, from eBooks to blog posts, landing pages to email workflows. I also oversee freelancers from time to time.”

Ralph graciously answered six questions about his career, life, and heritage for us—here’s a little bit more about him in his own words:

What do you enjoy most about your job?

It’s corny but I love my team. We laugh and get along well and have each other’s back – and I enjoy being under Megan Krause’s leadership!

I also enjoy the challenge of learning more about marketing.

How did you get your start in the industry?

I started freelance writing for Vertical Measures just before the acquisition. I was challenged with writing different types of material, and I found that I could do it well enough to get a chance to join the agency within a few months.

I started out as a journalist – mainly a copy editor. This is a big change for me, but a welcome one.

What advice would you give to young Latino professionals who are looking to get into the digital communications space?

Learn how to write well and communicate well, whatever the platform may be. In doing so, it will unlock doors for you and lead to greater opportunities. For anyone actually, not just Latinos.

What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?

It’s a nice acknowledgement of the contribution that Hispanics have made to the nation.

What is a family tradition you wish to pass down, that your parents have passed down to you?

Self-respect. Never act as though people owe you anything – earn it.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

I’m a big Disneyland fan – although I haven’t been there in years because it’s become so expensive!
