Embrace Technology to Keep Your Employees Engaged

|
To keep business moving you must have employees who are agile, adaptive and willing to adopt new technologies to stay connected.

In our blog last month we discussed how many businesses communicated the essential immediate things that their employees needed to know when COVID-19 took the world by storm. Those communications may have included instructions on how to work remotely or new polices that were put in place as a result of the pandemic. However, in the weeks since, how have employers continued to keep a digital-first mindset and leveraged next-gen technology-powered tools to promote a positive employee experience.

Now that working from home is the new norm for many, employees can do many things to keep their teams informed, connected and engaged.  But why does it matter? Well, according to a Gallup poll, engaged employees are 45 percent more likely to pivot and maintain corporate performance amidst change and given the most recent events, to keep business moving you must have employees who are agile, adaptive and willing to adopt new technologies to stay connected.

  • Feedback Loop: Now is the time to take advantage of the numerous ways to poll your employees. Leveraging tools like SurveyMonkey externally or even using polls within Microsoft Teams internally will help you stay aware of issues, concerns or opportunities for improvement.
  • Video Conferencing: Lean into having 1:1 communications where both parties can see one another, this ensures both people are engaged in the conversation but more importantly also humanizes communications.
  • Gamification: Studies have shown Millennials and Gen Zers desire to feel purpose in the work that they do. Find creative ways to leverage Slido or Kahoot! to reinforce your company values, or promote quick learning in a fun and interactive way.
