This idea is exemplified by the recent, novel collaboration between delivery app, DoorDash, and restaurant brand, Burma Superstar. The two have come together to design a physical restaurant concept and menu that is actually optimized for deliveries by DoorDash.
“Empowering restaurants with the tools to connect with more customers and build new revenue streams is in our DNA, and we’re taking our mission one step further by creating a to-go restaurant concept from scratch for one restaurant brand,” said DoorDash’s head of regional merchant partnerships Georgie Thomas.
The idea for this restaurant came because demand for deliveries from Burma Superstar were exceeding its capacity to supply them, so it only made sense for the restaurant to optimize towards the ability to deliver more food and offer more pickup and take-out options. DoorDash, the company responsible for orchestrating these deliveries, was the perfect partner to team with.
As 2021 begins, companies will be assessing their long-term strategies for the year, and steps that may have begun as just necessary pivots, will now be factored in as part of something much larger.
